But they are entitled to add initials after their names that correspond to the particular distinctions bestowed upon them. A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarch or other political leader for service to the monarch or country, especially in a military capacity. Unlike their British counterparts, non-British recipients are not permitted to use the titles “Sir” or “Lady” in front of their names.
